Housing and Dining Services – Strengthening Residential Communities at Eastern Illinois University

Housing and Dining Services at Eastern Illinois University is built on the idea that campus housing is more than just a bed. With 10 residence halls, two apartment communities (University Court and University Apartments), and Greek Court, students can choose a living environment that fits their goals while becoming part of the Panther Family. Living on campus connects students to a supportive community where academic focus and personal growth go hand in hand.
At Eastern Illinois University, residential life centers on student development both inside and outside the classroom. Programs like the Panther Success Initiative support academic achievement and career readiness, while leadership pathways such as the Residence Hall Association (RHA), Panther L.E.A.D.S., and the National Residence Hall Honorary empower students to shape their campus housing experience. RHA serves as the voice for on-campus residents, advocating on housing policies and acting as a liaison between students and administration. Panther L.E.A.D.S. provides weekly opportunities for residents to influence programming, facility improvements, and staffing conversations — helping students develop confidence, leadership skills, and lasting friendships throughout their transition to college.

Campus Ready partners with Housing and Dining Services because a strong residential experience begins before move-in day. When incoming students arrive prepared for residence halls or apartments, they can focus on engaging in leadership opportunities, connecting with peers, and participating fully in campus life at Eastern Illinois University.
By working alongside the department that supports student living across campus, Campus Ready helps families simplify the logistics of move-in while reinforcing EIU’s commitment to student success. Reducing last-minute preparation allows new residents to begin their Panther journey confident, organized, and ready to build meaningful connections.
