Residential Housing Association – Strengthening Residential Communities at the University of California, Santa Barbara
The Residential Housing Association (RHA) plays a central role in shaping campus living at the University of California, Santa Barbara. As a registered Office of Student Life organization, RHA is composed entirely of residents from UCSB residence halls and operates through Hall Councils in each building along with a campus-wide Coordinating Board. With more than 350 students involved in leadership roles, RHA is one of the most accessible and impactful ways for residents to get involved.
Every student living in campus housing contributes an activity fee that powers social, educational, cultural, and recreational programming throughout the year. Signature events like All Hall Ball, Pumpkin Bash, and Fall Retreat bring residential communities together, while smaller hall-based programs foster connection on a more personal level. Beyond events, RHA advocates for residents by voicing concerns, proposing improvements, and strengthening communication between students and university leadership. True to its mission to “put the unity in community,” RHA helps first-year students and returning residents feel represented, connected, and supported throughout their transition to college at UCSB.
